Game Night II To Benefit BBBS

Service After Service Inc. has decided to introduce our Big Brothers and Big Sisters to the veterans and affiliates of their organization at Game Night II taking place April 27 in Ansonia. Service After Service is a nonprofit dedicated to redeploying veterans into the local community in order to continue doing good. Their affiliates serve their communities after serving their country.

"Our Game Night fundraiser was insanely fun last year,” said Loni Lymus, a decorated Navy veteran and one of the co-founders. “We thought it would be great to team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters in order to provide an opportunity for Bigs to let loose, have fun and share their experience.  As a prior Little Sister, I’ve always loved the program so this collaboration was a no brainer.” Lymus and co-founder Nnangasuobo Richards are veterans, entrepreneurs, and authors with a combined 14+ years of military leadership experience and another combined 24+ years of corporate leadership experience.

Game Night II is a night of play and competition – not only board games, but musical and card games, dance contests, raffles, and Wii. This adults-only event allows our Bigs to share their experience of mentoring with others who may be interested in becoming mentors themselves.

“We appreciate that Service After Service has asked us to share this evening with them. It’s an opportunity for all to reconnect to the playful child inside us – something we hear from our Bigs when they tell us about the benefits of mentoring,” said Ellen Tracy, Executive Director of BBBS SWCT.

Game Night II takes place from 8 p.m.-Midnight on April 27 at the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley, 28 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Adults 21+ are welcome. Tickets: $15; active Big Brothers and Big Sisters may purchase tickets for $10 with promo code. Promo code is available from your Match Support Specialist or Angela Arpino, (203) 836-9310. As you can see from the photos below, game-playing and laughing with new friends made the night a success! The DJ and his music-related games got everyone dancing -- especially "Simon Says."

For BBBS, we met several potential Bigs and are looking forward to getting to know them better. Thank you, for inviting us to be a part of this special event.
